yes holy fuck indeed.
tripped to LA today, last minute two friends decided to come along for the ride, food, mayhem, but alas not the concert.
drove straight to satan monica and ate at real foods daily. walked to the pier, then got dropped off at Hollywood Bowl, was late, ran up to find my seat, to find Röyskopp starting their set...
it's 439am right now, just got home.... back to the story.

i'm still stunned. Hollywood Bowl is an outdoor amphitheater that seats about 18000 people. image the sun setting, the moon about 3/4 full, and 1000s of people dancing in the aisles to live music that doesn't even compare to the recorded version. they were really intense. i wasn't expected them to be that good.
girl sitting next to me moved from chicago to LA in February. i moved from chicago to San Diego in May. small world. music, chicago, photography were all discussed at some length...
Basement Jaxx came on, and the whole place went nuts. their energy was wild. full band 7-10 instruments at a time, 2-3 female singers, "where's your head at" included 8 people dressed in monkey suits. finished off the set with a 20 piece drum team and men and women in full stageshow feathered outfits dancing on tables, with monkeys running around, with all the musicians going wild. amazing amazing....
left the place so happy, walked a few blocks down to the stars on hollywood blvd. had to wait there for my ride since they went to see willy wonka, suckers.
so i'm standing on the corner forever, and i see this huge dude walk up the block with a little dude wearing a winte rhat and a hoodie, and me and the little dude stare each other down hard, like damn do i know that person? and we then smile at each other and i realize it was petey wentz from fall out boy who just happened to be walking up the street, since he's in town for a concert tomorrow. absolutely nuts. i haven't seen him in about a year, and we run in to each other on some random corner in hollywood.
you figure it out.
met back up with my ride, went to Mr. Pizza, the three of us ate 1 large and 1 medium vegan pepperoni pizzas over the course of an hour and a bit, taking laughing and acting like world class assholes. hopped in the car. drove back to SD. 4:54 is the time.

that's damn funny. Did you talk to Wentz long? Sounds like you had an awesome time. Can't wait to see you. Who was the big dude with Wentz?
only talked to wentz for a few minutes, he was out of it from travelling.

I had a similar experience when I saw Radiohead at the Hollywood Bowl right after Amnesiac came out. It was amazing. I stayed at the Hyatt on Sunset Blvd and felt like a rock star for two days.
i saw radiohead in grant park, i'm sure it was similar to seeing them at hollywood bowl. amazing.
Röyksopp really is fantastic, they set the mood for a beautiful place, chilled out mood, and pure good times. I fell in love with them in Barcelona, hanging out with the balcony doors open and watching the cars go by in the street below. You can imagine why the imact was so intense. ;) Anyway, I knew you would have a wonderful time, but it's nice to hear that your expectations were surpassed. Sweet dreams!
